30 years of TED Talks
TED is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the dissemination of "ideas worth spreading" at conferences currently being carried out in all parts of the world organization. The TED acronym refer to the terms Technology, Entertainment, Design. TED is widely known for its annual conference (TED Conference) and lectures (TED Talks) covering a wide range of topics including science, art and design, politics, education, culture, business, global issues, technology and development, and entertainment. 
 
 
Over 900 talks have been translated into 80 languages ​​and are available for viewing and download on the web. From its inception until 2011, these talks have been viewed over 400 million times.
 
Famous characters worldwide have been one of the speakers at TED editions, include some such as former United States President Bill Clinton, Nobel laureates James D. Watson, Murray Gell-Mann Award, and Al Gore, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and the evangelist Billy Graham.
 
Some history
 
 
TED Talks were founded by Richard Saul Wurman and Harry Marks on 1984, and is brought annually since 1990.
 
Since june 2006, TED Talks are available online from the TED website, YouTube and on iTunes.
 
The TED organization has offices in New York and Vancouver. The conference was held in Monterrey (California), since its founding, but from 2009 is held in Long Beach (California) because of the growing number of attendees.
 
The TED conference has from 2005, an associated TED Global event, which is held in different places.
 
In 2009 the TEDx program is created for conducting local events, organized independently, that bring people looking to share "ideas worth spread" . TED provides general guidance, but individual TEDx event is independent. As a rule these events have a duration of one day and entry is free. Until 2011 there have been more than 1500 events worldwide.

TEDx events are independent but share a TED spirit, for the organization of such events is necessary to obtain a free license and enforce the agreement to follow certain parameters established by TED. 
 
In a TEDx event, where "x" stands for "independently organized event" live speakers combine with TEDTalks to incite deep discussion and networking. 
 
 
The TEDx conferences are nonprofit, charging an entry or finding sponsors are only allowed to cover the cost of it, in turn the speakers are not paid for their presentations. In addition, the speakers disclaim copyrights of materials generated, that TED can edit and distribute under a Creative Commons license.
 
• In January 2014, the library contained over 30,000 TEDx video presentations from more than 130 countries.
• In March 2013, eight events were organized TEDx day when, in June 2012 there were five, in 133 countries.
 
In 2011, TED began a program called "TEDx in a Box", to promote the implementation of TEDx events in developing countries. TEDx _ also encompasses TEDxYouth, TEDx Corporate and TEDxWomen events.
